Or peach

Just today I was thinking. How great the writing summer felt with the kick-start at Banff and the summer learning to draw. Until the middle of August I sent stuff in and hit Kelowna.
My parents used to drive there, to Vernon, in the 1950s. All trails and orchards then. Doug and Kitty they were called, the couple  in Vernon, cousins (I think) of people south of Moose Jaw.
I remember Doug as pretty relaxed. Never wore a shirt darker than light blue. Drove the biggest Pontiac, and often took naps in it.
I suppose I could claim I slept in the back bedroom at Doug and Kitty's place. I was 9 and the bedroom was more of a porch, screened off but open. I fell asleep in sight of a plum tree.
